Runes of Midgard

The dead do not rest

A Norse idle ARPG. Your warrior marches and fights alone across the fjords of Midgard — you forge his fate in the hall of Valhalla.

The game

He fights. You forge.

Runes of Midgard is a Diablo-style action-loot RPG where combat plays itself. The warrior pushes down the trail, picks his targets and unleashes his powers on his own. Your job is to make him ever stronger.

The warrior advances

Stage after stage, waves of draugr and wolves rise from the earth. He fights, gathers the loot and presses on to the boss — no need for you to click every blow.

You step in when it matters

Keys 1–4 force a power at the right moment. Tactics from the tree change how he picks targets and when he saves his Fury or his Leap.

Valhalla is your forge

Back in Odin's hall, you swap gear, socket gems, reforge affixes and spend talents before crossing the Bifröst once more.

World and mythology

Midgard bleeds. The dead march.

Beyond the fence, the barrows have opened. The draugr — dead warriors who refuse to rest — have taken villages, shrines, the fortress of Jarl Hrafnkell and the mounds of Haugsnes. The wolves of Fenrir’s brood prowl the coast.

You are an einherjar, one of the warriors chosen by the valkyries. Between battles you rest in Valhalla, the hall of Odin, and return to Midgard across the rainbow bridge, the Bifröst, guarded by Heimdall.

  • Midgard

The world of men. The beta begins in Útangarðr, beyond the fence: the Fjords of Hrafnvik and the Barrows of Haugsnes, with frozen coasts, ruins, moors and the throne of Kárr the Old.

  • Valhalla

The hall of fallen heroes is your camp: dwarven smiths, the seeress, the valkyrie and Odin himself on the throne.

  • Bifröst

The rainbow bridge leads to the regions of Midgard. Heimdall sets the destination and the difficulty of each expedition.

  • Draugr

Thralls, wanderers, warriors, crossbowmen and sorcerers. Most of them fear fire — and all of them obey their jarls.
