Talent tree

The talent tree screen: the Guardian, Tempest and Executioner branches above the trunk, round nodes with icons and, on the right, the points and the skills for each slot.
Yggdrasil’s tree at the Valkyrie: the trunk at the bottom, Tempest in the middle, Guardian on the left and Executioner on the right. The lines mark the tiers, with the branch points and hero level each one requires.

The talent tree is tended by the Valkyrie. It holds 54 nodes across a shared trunk and three branches, one for each weapon style. There are more nodes than points, so every build is a choice.

  • 1 point per level starting at level 3 — 8 at level 10, 28 at level 30, 58 at level 60.
  • 6 Mímir’s Runes, earned through achievements — +1 point each.
  • Total: 64 points, for a tree that can hold far more than that beta.
Part Style Focus
Warrior’s Trunk any weapon life, damage, armor, critical strikes, gold, movement, tactics and the Einherjar keystone
Guardian Axe and Shield block, counterstrikes, crowd control; the path of ice
Tempest Dual Swords speed, bleeding, double strikes, dodge; the path of lightning
Executioner Greatsword area damage, executions, armor breaking, critical strikes; the path of fire

Tiers: each tier of a branch requires points spent in that branch and a minimum hero level beta:

Tier Points in the branch Level
0 0 3
1 5 8
2 10 15
3 20 25
4 (top: keystone and elemental apex) 25 35

At the Valkyrie, nodes still locked by level show the level they require. The elemental path runs along the outermost column and ends in a node that only works with that branch’s style.

Type Points What it does
Passive 1–5 A bonus to an attribute per point (life, damage, critical strike…). Most of the tree.
Skill 1 Unlocks an alternative skill for one of the 4 slots.
Modifier 1–3 Changes how a skill behaves.
Keystone 1 (requires 20 in the branch) A massive effect with a price.
Tactic 1 Changes the hero’s battle sense — this is where you truly “play” an idle game.
Node Branch Effect
Einherjar Trunk When you fall, rise again with 30% life — once per zone.
Living Fortress Guardian Damage taken −30% and damage dealt −15%. Each block heals 2% of life.
Eternal Berserker Tempest Fury never ends while enemies are nearby — but life no longer regenerates.
Wrath of Tyr Executioner Every 4th basic attack is a guaranteed critical strike and deals double damage. Attack speed −20%.
Node Effect
Patience Saves the Leap power for groups of 4 or more enemies.
Elite Hunter Goes after champions and bosses in range first.
Cold Blood Only uses Fury below 60% life or against elites and bosses.
Protect (Guardian) Charges crossbowmen and sorcerers first, standing between them and everyone else.

Some legendary aspects bring tactics of their own.

Branch Path Nodes
Guardian Ice of Niflheim Touch of Niflheim (part of your physical damage becomes Ice) → Eternal Frost → Heart of Winter (an aura that slows enemies within 3 m)
Tempest Thor’s Lightning Thor’s Blade (physical damage becomes Lightning) → Thunder in the Veins → Thor’s Fury (critical strikes release chaining bolts)
Executioner Fire of Muspelheim Surtr’s Blade (physical damage becomes Fire) → Embers of Muspelheim → Surtr’s Fire (kills explode in flames)

At the Valkyrie, resetting the tree is free up to level 20. After that, it costs 50 gold × the hero’s level beta.
