Affixes and Greater Affixes ★
Affixes are the randomly rolled stats on an item. The item level caps the tier, the slot decides which affixes can appear, and, on rare occasions, one of them drops as a Greater Affix ★.
Prefixes and suffixes
Section titled “Prefixes and suffixes”- Prefixes are offensive or resource stats; suffixes are defensive or utility stats. An item has up to 3 of each and never repeats the same affix.
- The item’s name takes its best prefix and its best suffix: Sharp Axe of the Bear.
- The base’s implicit doesn’t count as an affix.
Each affix has 5 tiers. The item’s iLvl sets the best tier that can roll; each tier has its own value range, and the item tooltip shows that range next to the value, such as +12% damage [10–14], so you can tell at a glance whether it rolled well.
| Tier | Available from iLvl |
|---|---|
| T5 (lowest) | 1 |
| T4 | 15 |
| T3 | 30 |
| T2 | 45 |
| T1 (highest) | 55 |
What each slot can roll
Section titled “What each slot can roll”Each slot only rolls what makes sense on it. A few examples:
- Movement Speed only on boots.
- +Power Level only on amulets and weapons.
- Block only on shields.
- Critical Damage on weapons, rings, amulets and bracers.
There are more than 80 affixes, spread across the attribute groups: primary, offensive, elemental, status effects, defensive, resources, powers and utility.
Greater Affix ★
Section titled “Greater Affix ★”★ A Greater Affix is worth 1.5 times the tier’s maximum.
| Where it drops | Chance per affix beta |
|---|---|
| Normal and Heroic | never |
| Mythic (iLvl 40+ items) | 2% |
| Ragnarök | 5% |
| Ragnarök Expedition | 5% + 0.5% per tier (up to 20%) |
| Ancestral | always at least one ★ |
- Reforging neither creates nor destroys a ★: a ★ affix can be polished (a new value within the ★ range), but never reforged.
- The only way to gain a ★ outside of loot is Mímir’s Cauldron: 5 Stardust for a 25% chance to turn a regular affix into a ★.
- In the tooltip, the ★ is golden and glows; on the ground, each ★ adds a pulsing star to the item’s beam of light.
An item with 2 ★ is already rare; 3 or 4 ★ is what you hunt for after level 60.
